Imagine doing this with your neighbor…
You move in, meet your neighbor, he asks what you do, and you tell him you’re an arborist. The next day, you comment on his garden and recommend a great place to get dinner that you stumbled upon the other night. Then a week later, you wave as you’re driving past him to your office.
One day he invites you over for dinner. So, you and your family head over for some delicious chicken parm. That’s when you notice a tree branch out the window that’s dangling for dear life.
“Gotta fix that Jimbo!”
“The branch?”
“Yeah, it’s dead! Only a matter of time before it falls and damages your car! Better get that fixed.”
“Trying to drum up business are ya Todd?”
“No no no… We don’t need any more business. We’re backed up as it is.”
“So you’re telling me you can’t do the job?”
“No, sure. Do you want me to?”
“How much is it?”
“I’ll have a guy come over tomorrow and give you a quote.”
Now that is how marketing is done. Imagine if you could do that 10,000 people at a time? Sure, you might fill your business up to capacity and have to turn down business, but isn’t that the point?
You can grow the business, or keep it at capacity, but this is how you market your business effectively.
This is NOT like a PPC (when people google “tree service near me” or whatever they are searching for in a state of emergency. Can you imagine what THAT convo would be like?
“HEY TODD! YOU’RE AN ARBORIST RIGHT?! FIX MY TREE!!!!!!”
“Oh hey Jimbo. Oh uh, let’s see. Can I send a guy over tomorrow to—”
“TOMORROW!? NNNOOOO!!! NOOOWWWW!!!”
That’s basically what is happening when you wait for people to Google you.
